There is new way to use Databricks: Consumer Entitlement.
Up until now, access to a Databricks Workspace can be permitted in three flavors:
- Admin Access: manage workspace and its users, groups, resources, and settings.
- Workspace Access: This enables you to create Notebooks, use Clusters, create Workflows, create and manage models and more.
- SQL-Databricks SQL Access: access SQL Warehouses and run SQL Queries against data.
And here comes the new entitlement:
- Consumer Access: a very stripped down UI for those who just want to look up the latest updates on Dashboards or interact with Data through a Genie Space.
This basically removes all the bells and whistles that Data Practitioners use and provides a straightforward view to business users who just want to get the results.
