Databricks spelling rant

Martin DebusPosted on LinkedIn

A little reminder to everyone out there in the data ecosystem:

It is simply Databricks.

Not DataBricks.

And not Data Bricks.

And especially not DBX.

Reading this feels like a root canal treatment to me.

I see Databricks spelled wrong a lot and this comes typically from three kinds of personas:

  1. The Databricks Rookie: Has not been in touch with Databricks a lot and hasn’t absorbed the correct spelling yet. Those will learn and adapt.
  2. Headhunters and Staffing Agencies: Typically with no tech background and never using the tools. Getting the spelling right will help matching keywords and demonstrate a professional demeanor.
  3. Data Professionals: They should know. Period.

This applies for other terms as well. So take the few seconds and check your spelling.
