… it will be replaced by the direct engine, which has been available as a separate option for some time. With the relase of Databricks CLI version 1.3.0 it is now the default.
The direct engine provides faster deployment and does not use Terraform under the hood. It also supports more resources than Terraform, like catalogs and Genie spaces.
Be aware that the Terraform engine will eventually be removed. So consider migrating your DABs to the direct engine soon.
