I read “Humanizing Data Strategy” by Tiankai Feng over the weekend and wanted to share a few thoughts.
If you’re just starting out in data or exploring what data strategy really means, this book is a great place to begin. Tiankai offers a clear and thoughtful overview of the key elements that intentionally go beyond technology. He reminds us that strategy isn’t only about tools and systems, but also about people and purpose. His 5C framework - Competence, Collaboration, read the book to find out the other three :-) - captures that really well.
For those who’ve been in the data space for a while, the book is a thoughtful reminder that we’re in here not for the technologies sake. One concept that stood out to me was his “follow the pain” approach to finding real problems, which many experienced data folks will recognize and appreciate.
I am curious to find out what Tiankais twist on AI will be with his new book.
